Mercedes Jelinek did a rather interesting project. She pretty much set up a free photobooth in her neighborhood.
While taking photos of random people walking by who volunteer may sound like nothing, I find this photobooth to be something special. Rather than taking pictures of famous people or supermodels, Jelinek takes photos of the common-folk from the neighborhood. She sets up this photobooth by having her camera on a tripod while having a sheet behind the subject. All she did was hold up a sign saying free photos, and people came to get their photos taken.
Once being average neighborhood people, they become super stars in this photoshoot! This photobooth isn’t necessarily about beauty of each person, but it’s about the beauty of the people from the neighborhood as a whole. The people with their photos taken are all diverse in race, culture, class, and ages.
